During a pre-Obama Waterfront Hall interview,Gerry Adams spoke fondly of the support that Irish-Americans had given to republicans over the years. He also mused,in his tree-hugging way,that ''here'' Northern Ireland - had been a very sectarian Statelet.
However,he forgot that the Free State was also a very sectarian State for Protestants and cleanly forgot that it was Irish-American groupies had funded the PIRA during its bloodlust driven pogrom against its neighbours. He forgot that those Irish-Americans,who sang rebel songs as they stuffed dollars into the coffers of Sinn Fein/PIRA, had the blood of those slaughtered at Darkley,La Mon,Kingsmills,Bloody Friday,Enniskillen,Claudy and countless other ''armed actions'' on their hands.
He forgot to mention that it was Irish-American dollars which funded the murders of the 17 known Disappeared,as well as the many suspected informers who were abducted,tortured,shot in the head and dumped on the border,or the hundreds of others who were maimed for life by the PIRA 'nutting' and knee-capping gangs. The next time he goes to the USA for private health care,he should ask for treatment for his amnesia as well.

| Good letter there. The problem is that to many people in our community, get fed up arguing back against the likes of Adams and just let him continue his drivel. There's an old saying: "if a lie get's told often enough, it becomes regarded as the truth". Republicans are experts at this, so it's imperative that we keep fighting back against their propaganda and occasionally actually go on the offensive once in a while.
