McDonald needs to take a step back; Unionists use to taunt Sinn Fein that they had no mandate. Well this isn’t true anymore; they have hundreds of thousands a voters. Jackie McDonald has no electoral mandate to represent the Unionist community and while he is currently top dog in the UDA, he doesn’t represent the politica1 views of the majority of it’s membership, probably not even within his own Brigade area.

Personally I think he is used by republicans, particularly by the republicans involved in the Belfast media group. They ask him questions, that put him on the spot, and in the interests of peace and reconciliation process which is tied in with so much funding he tells the media what they want to hear. Some of what he says is accurate enough, but some of his stunts are completely at odds with Unionism.

When Sinn Fein were under pressure regarding the Travers murderer Mary McArdle being given an advisors job at Stormont, Jackie McDonald said in a interview “whether the case would have received the same attention if the victim had been a shipyard worker's daughter.”

When Sinn Fein are under real pressure surrounding the murder of a Roman Catholic killed outside a Chapel after attending Mass, something that would sit very uncomfortably with a lot of the Roman Catholic electorate, McDonald almost tries to make it into a class issue, his comments didn’t benefit Unionism one little bit and I think they helped the Sinn Fein propaganda cause.

This latest stunt is a disgrace, republicans are playing on this so-called working together of the working classes, look at the troubles, those big bad big house Unionists led you boys up the hill, and neglected your areas while they sat back and got filthy rich, while you boys rotted in a prison cell.

This latest strategy of republicans for shared space, is a clever move. They have started in some villages instead of removing loyalist flags, erecting a tricolour underneath them all in the interests of equality, they will push with this picture at City hall, then it will be a Irish tricolour flown alongside our Union flag at City Hall. They will soon be trying to hold commemorations in loyalist areas for IRA members killed while commencing in terrorism. This year we seen a very expensive wreath left in Coagh to the three IRA vermin executed by the security forces, just yards from the garage were the IRA murdered 3 Protestants two of whom were pensioners and now the Irish writing on our buses.

He and a few others seemed to have mastered the art of riding two horses at the same time. He joined the ULSTER Defence Association. Perhaps it should be re-named as the IRISH Defence Association as he doesn't appear to have much interest in defending Ulster anymore. When I speak of defending Ulster I mean of course its history, traditions and culture. He and his coherts seemed to have decided to play THEIR part in the 'Unionist Outreach' programme of sinn fein. What is especially galling is that sinn fein removed portraits of the British Royal family from the same place where McDonald is now partaking in unveiling a portrait of Connolly. Disgracful!

Anyway, its coming round to Remembrance Day and he'll have the chance to play the patriot game and ride the other horse for those gathered around him.

Aye that's it exactly, people like him are leading our community into a united Ireland but because of his connections he will get away with it.

Yes there is no doubt both of the main paramilitaries have lost their way from what their original beliefs were. There was a move in the 1970,80s to bring a left-wing/communist feel into the UVF. Their magazine had a few articles about the the Solodad (think that was the name) brothers. They were blacks in America and seemed to be commies and having a Communist lawyer defend them in court. Yet here they were getting a sympathetic hearing in their magazine. What the hell had this to do with Ulster? After a while that disappeared and they appeared to have got the heave-ho, but now it seems that it has returned again.

Re the big house unionists and loyalist rotting in prison, yes it is a good ruse to get loyalists thinking and bemoan their lot as loyalists are more easily prised away from their roots and belief. I noticed in Peter Taylors series of programmes that in the one inside the prison republicans were more commited in their belief wheras loyalists (without the exception of John Greig (might have the name wrong there but I think you'll know who I mean) were felling sorry for themselves and saying they wished they'd never been so easily led etc and warning other young 'uns off.

I got hit with the big-house thing and I told the guy that said it, that this wasn't peculair to Ulster that it happened in other places thoughout the UK and elsewhere. In England it was the coal-mines and the satanic mills where people slaved and the big boys in their big houses lived on the hill. But they way they presented it was, it was only here it happened.

They would sometimes say about WW1 and how the young working lads were sent out to die, and that the middle and upper-classes didn't get involved. There were quite a few middle and upper classes who went and died in WW1 and WW2. Brookeborough ,a man they are fond of putting down in that respect had two sons killed in the war as far as I know. Brookeborough himself I believe was in the army. Bill Craig was a rear-gunner in the RAF.Molyneaux was in the army and was there when the Allies entered the Concentration camps. James Craig served in the Boer War. They were all what they would term 'big house unionists'

But they can put their own spin on things and a good many young lads will fall for it instead of delving into it and getting the facts for themselves.

Regarding his remarks about Miss Travers being murdered by the IRA as she came out of chapel and how if it had have been the daughter of a shipyard worker there wouldn't have been the same fuss.

Think he's missing the point (maybe deliberately). It was the appointment of an advisor made by Carol Cullen, of one of those who took part in the murder of Miss Travers, and the £75,000 a year this murderer will be getting which caused the kick-up. Up until that, she like thousands of others was an almost forgotten victim of the 'troubles'

But it was a clever ploy to cause disatifaction among those who would take on board his soundbite.
