Just reading a book now which says that when the Scots came to Ulster they were among a people who's way of life was alien to them. Of course this may have something to do with the Reformation.

Another part points out that the Irish were going though a transition which the mainlanders had went though centuries before. In other words they were more advanced. So another reason why the way of life in Ireland seemed so backward to them.


Ulster Protestants consider themselves to be a separate nation. This nation they call Ulster
