The squeaking noise you're hearing, especially after reinstalling the stock shocks, could indeed be linked to the swingarm bushings defective Takata airbags. The chewed-up black plastic you found is likely a sign that the bushings have worn out, which is common on older models like your 1995 Dyna Convertible. Replacing those bushings should help eliminate the noise and improve your ride quality. Make sure to also check the swingarm bolt and surrounding components for any additional wear while you’re at it.
