Think we know that Christmas,Easter etc come from Rome and the pagans,and it seems another one is St Valentines Day. Saw this in the NL
The Emperor Claudius 2. Claudius the Cruel as he was called. The good St Valentine,who was a priest in Rome,in 269 AD together with his friend Saint Marius defied Claudius, and were imprisoned. During his confinement he supposedly fell in love with the jailer's daughter

Before his death on February 14,it is alleged he wrote her a letter which he signed ''From your Valentine''. In 496 AD,Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St Valentine.
Another legend says that Valentine's Day started in ancient Rome,on February 14,holiday to honour Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses.
