| COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO GLASGOW GAMES

When the British Commonwealth Games open in Glasgow on 23rd July 2014, an. ambitious project involving every lodge throughout Scotland will come to a climax with a big patriotic celebration at the Institution's Olympia house headquarters.
Beginning this month, a Commonwealth Baton Relay will visit every County, District and Private lodge. Every lodge Master or Mistress will get the opportunity to sign the Baton which will later be displayed for posterity in the heritage centre.
This exciting project is being spearheaded by the Scottish Orange Home Fund as a means of promoting the good work they do and to recruit local volunteers. The project is also being supported by Grand Lodge Strategy Group on the Scottish Referendum in order to raise awareness of the serious issues facing us as a unionist fraternity.
The Home Fund has commissioned special Commonwealth Baton Relay medals and badges, which can be pre-ordered now from the KBshop at Olympia House. The medal is £10 and the badge is £2 (plus £1 p&p).
The ambitious lodge visitation marathon will begin and end in the east end of Glasgow, where most of the games will take place, and where Olympia House will be specially decorated to welcome the athletes and visitors,
"Stronger as one" is the official anthem of the British Commonwealth Games, not a bad variation on "united we stand" and our "British Together" attitude towards attempts to destroy the unity of the United Kingdom.
