MILLIONS of taxpayers are facing nearly 300 tax hikes adding 15 per cent to their bills, a report warned last night.
An audit found that 254 taxes have been raised since the Coalition came to power and 45 more are planned by the general election in 2015.
This compares to just 119 tax cuts — despite the Tories’ traditional image as a low-tax party.
Senior Tories last night said the report highlighted the need for radical tax cuts to kick-start growth amidst accusations high taxes kill jobs, depress wages and increase prices.
